I-80 West (Reno) take the Hwy 20/Nevada City exit 27 miles to Coyote Street exit in Nevada City. From Chico take Hwy 20 East to Grass Valley, then Hwy 49 to Nevada City. Sacramento Street and Broad Street exits get you near the course. See event web site for detailed parking information.
Notes
Current National or District Crit Champions and/or previous NC Classic men’s/women’s Pro 1-2 winners pay a flat $5 NCNCA and USAC surcharge fees only. This race is held under USAC permit (pending). Promoter reserves the right to add/combine categories based on field size/s and other circumstances with agreement from lead USAC &/or NCNCA official/s.
Parking
This is a historic town with narrow winding streets, so leave extra time for parking and locating the registration area on lower Broad St. View course map.
For parking just east of the course or on streets surrounding the course take the Broad St. exit (from Auburn/Sacramento) and turn right (east), then left across the bridge into the Nevada St. public parking lot, or turn left across/up the Broad St. overpass, then right onto Union St. to public parking spots below, near and above the US Post Office. From Reno, take the Coyote St. exit and turn left onto Coyote/Union St. (Lower & Upper Broad St. and Commercial St. above Three-Forks Bakery & Brewing Co. are closed after 10 a.m. for EXPO area set up due to the race).
The BEST parking option is just north of the course. Turn West on the Highway 49 exit towards Downieville and drive 1/4 mile to 950 Maidu Ave. (right) and park at the Nevada County Government Rood Center. This large parking lot is just a 5-minute walk to the top of the race course. Please Cross Highway 49 in the designated Crosswalk at the lighted intersection of N. Bloomfield & E. Broad St. and continue Rt. (South) onto the race course.
Nevada City is a Historic town with narrow streets and limited parking for it’s residents. Many homes have no driveways or garage parking, and require the owners to park on the street near their home. Please be considerate and avoid parking in neighborhood spots that are obviously needed by the local residents.
Course
For 2018 the 58th Nevada City Classic will go back to the original course that was designed by event founder Charlie Allert in 1961. Instead of riders going all the way to the bottom of Broad St., they will turn left onto N. Pine St., cross Commercial St. and proceed past the Courthouse and the relocated start/finish at N. Pine & Church streets before merging back to the course most people are familiar with at York & N. Pine streets. This allows for a slightly shorter lap, but still a challenging circuit for all. Due to the nature of the course, no free lap is in effect. Lapped riders may be pulled at official’s discretion to ensure safety & finish accuracy. Warming up on course is not possible after 10 am due to time constraints and safety. Warm up in neighborhoods or on a trainer. View course map.
Neutral Support
Neutral wheels are available at the start/finish on West Broad Street. Neutral water is available at top of Main Street along with a rider feed zone (feed zone is not neutral – racer’s responsibility).
Free “Team Zone”
The first twelve teams or related cycling groups/clubs can reserve a free 10′ x 10′ tent space to use for race preparation, warming up, relaxing, etc. Spaces are available on a first come first served basis, and are located on Commercial St. just below the Start/Finish line. To reserve a space contact the race promoter.
